Chinese Gut Motility Program (CGMP) Consortium Meeting to Be Held in Wuxi

    On December 3, 2024, under the leadership of Academician Chen Wei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and with support from the Ministry of Education’s Discipline Breakthrough Pilot Program and a Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, leading research teams in gastroenterology and the broader health sciences across China jointly launched the Chinese Gut Motility Project (CGMP).

    Since its launch, through close collaboration among all participating institutions, CGMP has brought together more than ten leading tertiary hospitals and research institutions, including Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital, the General Hospital of the Eastern Theater Command, and West China Hospital of Sichuan University. To date, baseline data collection for the first cohort of 2,000 participants has been successfully completed, and a series of interim research findings and academic outputs based on this cohort are being generated and released.

    Looking ahead, CGMP will continue to expand its multicenter collaborative network, further strengthen its cohort infrastructure, and strive to generate a series of high-impact research outputs with the potential to meaningfully inform clinical practice. To systematically assess the progress achieved to date and coordinate the next phase of research activities, the CGMP Advancement Meeting is scheduled to be held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, from November 7 to 9, 2026.

    Guided by the spirit that “we may go faster alone, but we go farther together,” the steady progress of CGMP would not be possible without the strong support and dedicated collaboration of colleagues across the field. We sincerely invite researchers and clinicians from relevant disciplines nationwide to join us in advancing the frontiers of gut motility and gut microbiome research in China.
